Kimchi

Most meals in K-Dramaland go with kimchi, as a side dish. This huge kimchi-consumption is also a reason why you often see people in K-Dramaland making this side dish. They usually use huge plastic bowls to do so and the freshly made kimchi will be stored in jars that are stocked either in the backyard or on the rooftop. When ready to eat, it will be stored in containers in the fridge. Most of the time Kimchi is made by the women in the household.

A gesture of affection when eating, often done by grandmothers, is ripping kimchi into small pieces and putting it on somebody else’s spoon.
